Filmmaker and media mogul Tyler Perry and studio Lionsgate have been named in a $77 million civil lawsuit filed on Christmas Day by an actor who appeared in the film A Madea Halloween. The lawsuit alleges sexual assault and related misconduct, claims that Perry’s legal team has strongly denied.

According to court filings, the plaintiff accuses Perry of inappropriate behavior and claims the studio failed to properly address or prevent the alleged incident. The lawsuit seeks damages totaling $77 million, citing emotional distress, career harm, and other losses.

In response, Perry’s attorney dismissed the lawsuit as a “failed money grab,” calling the allegations baseless and asserting that the claims are unsupported by evidence. The legal team said Perry categorically denies the accusations and intends to vigorously defend against them in court.

Lionsgate has also rejected the claims, stating that it takes such allegations seriously but believes the lawsuit lacks merit. The studio said it will cooperate fully with the legal process while defending itself against what it described as unfounded accusations.

The case is in its early stages, and no court findings have been made. As with all civil complaints, the allegations remain claims and have not been proven in court. Further developments are expected as the legal proceedings continue.
