TIFFIN, Ohio — A horrifying scene unfolded Tuesday evening in Tiffin when two children and two men were found dead in what authorities believe was a murder-suicide, leaving the children’s mother devastated and “visibly traumatized,” according to police.
Officers responded to a home on Huss Street around 6:24 p.m. after neighbors reported gunfire and screams. Inside, first responders found a man and one child dead. A second child, critically injured, was rushed to Mercy Hospital but did not survive. The children were identified as a 7-year-old boy and a 7-month-old infant.
A second man was discovered outside the residence with what investigators believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, leading police to classify the incident as an apparent murder-suicide.
Authorities say the mother, though physically unharmed, was overwhelmed and in deep shock. Police described her emotional state as “visibly traumatized.” She was taken to the hospital for evaluation and support.
Early findings suggest 42-year-old Ryan Eagon, father of the infant, returned to the home during a dispute and opened fire. A second man, 29-year-old Dustin Willey — who police say was helping the mother move out due to ongoing domestic issues — was also shot and later died at the hospital.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has joined Tiffin Police in piecing together the sequence of events and the motive behind the violence. Officials have called the incident one of the most heartbreaking cases the community has faced in recent years.
Authorities are asking residents to keep the affected family in their thoughts as the investigation continues.
