NEW YORK — Ghostbusters co-creator Dan Aykroyd marked the birthday of his longtime friend and co-star Bill Murray with a lighthearted, behind-the-scenes story from the filming of 1989’s Ghostbusters II.
Aykroyd extended belated birthday wishes to Murray, referring to him by his iconic nickname “the Murricane” and calling him “the greatest comedy leading man of our time”.
Along with the tribute, Aykroyd recalled a late-night adventure the pair pulled off while filming on location in New York City:
“One night shooting GB2, we appropriated two fully equipped police motorcycles from the movie’s motor pool and spent an hour chasing each other around a closed Central Park with full lights and sirens. No consequences. After all, we were Ghostbusters.”
